Work that Proprioception!
What the heck is Proprioception?
We are all familiar with the five standard senses, which includes vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. But have you ever heard the word, proprioception? Some may call this "the sixth sense". But to my coach and I, it is my "boxer sense". Generally, proprioception is inherent to every one! Lets look into this some more!
Proprioception- perception governed by proprioceptors, as awareness of the poition of one's body.
Hey! Let us do a quick exercise that will reinforce the idea about this sixth sense!
Do me a favor right now! Stand up!
Good, please extend your hands out to their respected side. Now, point your pointer fingers out and touch your nose. Try alternating back and forth with the next finger. Do this Five times! Go!
Was that easy?
Than, everything is working properly. This should be easy because your brain is sensing your body, as well as its position and movement through out 3D space. This is called proprioception.
This ability enables us to fully understand where our limbs are in space without having to look. Think of it when a fighter is blocking or executing punches, rolling and slipping. Proprioception begins occurring exactly when a fighter executes a response with counter shots, by hitting to and from any stance. Punching from stances like the "High" guard, the "Philly" guard, or any other defensive stance will use proprioception.
Proprioception, can be simple such as daily movements, walking, eating, catching your sneeze. This will get complex with higher levels of competition with any sport! Where precise coordination is essential. Any coordinated movement is the result of normal functioning of the proprioceptive system.

Behnid some my Title Boxing & Fitness Core work out
I was recently inspired to change my core workout for my part-time job at Title Boxing Club of Naperville. The Master, is a Youtube channel. Cold, sore, tired, and boxing
Cold day in the gym as I sat in my office waiting for class to start. Then suddenly I realized...
"Its Friday! Kids are Sparring!"
I got up, grabbed my camera, and rushed into our team's gym! As I pressed the record button and looked into the camera's view finder, it gave me a glimpse of our gym's future. "
I couldn't believe these kids!" They were going hard, boxing each other with everything they had! Each one had Courage in their heart. check em out! Here is a video of that night!

These carefully selected kids are the new boxers that will represent Power Boxing & Fitness. Each respectfully shows their techniques and exhibits their skill. They have entered the realm of amateur boxing and will possibly take their skills to the Professional Boxing world! This is my dream for them!

Somedays boxers will have good days in the gym and somedays boxers will have a bad day! But, it's always about how a boxer trains tomorrow that will help a fighter mature! No mater what happens in a match, boxing is always a comeback! A fighter punches at you, you've got to comeback to win!
